Prior to joining LevelX, Mark founded a Chicago-based financial consulting firm specializing in private equity real estate finance and infrastructure projects. Mark’s projects included equity and debt capitalization of large projects in Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Detroit, and Minneapolis.
Prior to this experience, Mark was CIO of a multi-state fund management business, SVP Finance of a U.S. private equity real estate investment company, and an investment and finance professional at Security Capital Group (later sold to GE Capital for $4B) responsible for advising on underwriting, forecasted earnings models, capital structure, capital formation, and capital closing for portfolio companies Archstone Apartments (Archstone portfolio ultimately sold to Equity Residential and Avalon Bay for $15.5B), Belmont Village Senior Living (now 30 U.S. locations and ongoing collaboration with USC, UCLA, and Vanderbilt), and a Security Capital Group/Goldman Sachs & Co. joint venture Strategic Hotel Capital which acquired $2.5B in hotels in 24 months (now Strategic Hotels and Resorts, NYSE: BEE).
Mark earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Emory University and an MBA from the University of Chicago with concentrations in Finance and Marketing. When not working most waking hours advising on large real estate and infrastructure project capitalization for clients – Mark is an avid fitness enthusiast; and enjoys family, his adult children, and rescue dogs.
